Ashwagandha Withania somnifera
Even in the most extreme climates Nature usually finds a way to thrive and Ashwagandha is one of these wonder herbs that loves to grow in the extreme hot and arid soils of India.
Its common name, ‘winter-cherry’, is a reference to its small red fruits. However we are interested in the root of the plant as this contains its magic.
Its ability to survive the stress of such a harsh environment can be passed onto us. The roots are harvested and air-dried to preserve them before we use them in our supplements to help us thrive in and adapt to the extremes of our lives. That's also why Ashwagandha is categorised as an adaptogen. Find out more about adaptogens here.
